Final photo of model
I chose to show a different angle then that of what I had shown in my renders. I tried to bring out the detail of the surface by taking advantage of the models transparency and placing a light underneath it.

Final render of 3 models

This is my final render of my 3 models. I chose to keep them all the same colour, which unifies them as a group. I think that they look good as a set because all are similar in the way they were made but also look quite different. My theme of repetition in a pattern can be seen in the layering and in the surface of the models but is done in a way that is not too obvious.  I have highlighted certain parts of each model with a red light, while most of the models are covered in blue and a less obvious purple light which brings these two colours together. The background also places these model in an interesting space and accents the sharp and dark look of the models while suiting the colours I have chosen also.

Background

The colours of the lights that I had been using reminded me of colours I had seen in images of space. This, I thought, suited the colour of the model nicely. Also the sharp and dark look of the model suited that of the mystery and darkness that is attributed to space. It added to the character of the model, suggesting that this would be some sort of dark and alien object

I then tried placing all  my models in this scene, and changed the colours of each and background to try and individualize each of them. But in the end I thought that this looked as if too much was going on and that it was too colourful.

Model 2 and 3

Because I had figured out the lighting and material I wanted to use, doing the renders for model 2 and 3 was easier.

Lighting and material

I went through a lot of different lighting types to try and bring out the best features of my model.

One of my first attempts at lighting my first model. I was first trying to make sure most of the model was well lit. I also wanted to get the backlight to bring out certain parts of the model

I was happy with the combination of blue and red light at this point. I also put a soft green light on the right, which blended well with the existing blue light.
At this point I was interested in how the light would effect different types of materials. I tried a material that looked like glass but found that this material didn't light well and looked mostly black
This material was better than the previous but I still wasnt fully pleased with this material
Here I tried a darker material and tried a purple light on the right which I thought looked even better because it tied the blue light at the front and the red at the back
I was finally the most happiest with this material and lighting. I made the material slightly more reflective which gave it a good shine.

All models

These are my final models. I think that all models speak of my theme of repition, but do not look too simple. Repition can become too basic, but i think that these models look quite complex and detailed. Repition is created with the surface of the models and by the layering. But by layering, I have created a completely different looking model rather one where you can pick out where each part has been repeated. I am also happy that all models relate to my precident image, by having all models being created from the same plane that was inspired by the image of the cube illusion.

3rd Model

For my last model I took a square plane of the of which I have made all my models from and twisted and layered it.

I then stretched the model and finally copied the model, rotated it 90 degrees and joined it together. I was then happy with this result
